So Jimmy Carter’s Got a Big MOUTH
Let me start by saying, I love Jimmy Carter. LOVE him.
Let me continue by saying I wish he would shut his friggin mouth.
The first time he made a comment about racism and Obama, I thought “Okay, this is sort of a problem, good for you”. The next time he made a comment about it I thought “Hmm, getting a little redundant, aren’t we?”
Now, I wish he would just quit talking about it and help us drop the whole black/white argument.
Don’t get me wrong, I realize that there are still racial tensions in the good ol US of A, but I think that continuing on with this argument is hurting us. And I think that saying that Senator Wilson only said “YOU LIE” because he is racist, is probably a little far fetched. Maybe the guy really is racist. Maybe he’s not. I agree that him screaming out in the middle of Obama’s address was rude and disrespectful and certainly not acceptable behavior for a Senator. But I don’t really think it boiled down to racism. Maybe it did. But to me, screaming that out is more of a Republican being against a Democrat’s agenda than being against an African-American president.
I think we need to start working together and stop working against each other if we’re ever going to figure out this whole healthcare debate and so that we can grow stronger as a united nation rather than a divided one. I don’t have all the answers; no one does. But Mr. Carter, could you please drop the racist argument? It’s getting embarrassing.

I agree completely. I love Carter. I think he’s very wise, and having lived in the south, he probably knows race issues first-hand. However, jumping to that conclusion seems rash without evidence to back it up. And, if not proven, can do more harm than good. I’m not saying race issue don’t still exist. But there are a lot of other long-standing predispositions in play here than solely the race card.
Yeah, I’d agree with you here as well. I gotta believe that the majority of people would just assume move past the whole racist argument and get to more important things. I’m not saying that racism doesn’t exist and/or isn’t important, but, going to it as a reason for why things happen the way they do seems a bit outdated now.
I think part of my problem is, I don’t see the race issue in my every day life. At my job, everyone is created equally and we have all races in all positions. And at school, the same thing. Everyone is treated the same way. It doesn’t mean that I don’t acknowledge that there are race issues out there, but I just don’t see them. I think that makes my opinion of what he’s been saying a little bit harsher than if I were experiencing the race problem first hand. Just my opinion though.
Jimmy Carter was the first American president to bring peace in the Middle East. He won the nobel peace prize for his international peace efforts.
When Jimmy Carter Says something everyone should listen. He is a wise political man, he should be elected as the scretary general of the UN.
